Autumn village clean up - Saturday 24th November 2012

Thank you very much to around 30 volunteers who turned out on a gloomy wet morning and did lots of useful work. Jobs done included

  • filling potholes and spreading shingle in the church and village hall car parks and on paths in the church yard

  • clearing the stream which has already helped the water level to fall about four inches

  • clearing the road verges and pavements from The Plough to the village hall car park making it much safer and more pleasant for users

  • litter picking on the Middleway and the Forton flyover

  • removing a dead tree in the village hall car park

  • clearing leaves from round the village hall

Afterwards our tired volunteers enjoyed a well earned lunch of sandwiches and chips at The Plough.

Particular thanks go to

  • Raymond Brown who helped us by providing the skip, the shingle for the car parks and Day Glo jackets to make us safer.
  • Mick Meaden and Mick Blocksidge who brought tractors which were invaluable for moving the debris to the skip.

Two families who were not able to come have kindly volunteered to clean the new playground equipment and some road signs.
