Spring village clean up - Saturday 20th April 2013

Thank you very much to over 30 volunteers who turned out on a lovely Spring morning and did lots of work. Jobs done included

  • spreading 20 tons of shingle in the village hall car park
  • pruning in the car park and the cemetery
  • a bonfire in the cemetery which got rid of loads of stuff
  • filling sunken areas in the cemetery and planting grass seed
  • landscaping where the tree was removed in the cemetery
  • litter picking on the main road, the Forton flyover and Southside Road
  • clearing the path and steps from the Forton flyover to the bus stop
  • cleaning benches in and outside the church yard and at the cemetery
  • clearing an uneven area on footpath 32
  • painting equipment in the playground
  • clearing roots and vegetation on the spinal path ready for the surface upgrade
  • clearing overhanging vegetation and sorting out uneven surface on footpath 10
  • cleaning and painting the bus shelter by the shop
  • pushing back vegetation encroaching onto the football field
  • painting posts at the pedestrian entrance to the car park
  • cleaning equipment in the playground
  • shining up road signs
  • clearing in the stream to stop the water coming out onto the road
  • enjoying a well earned lunch at the Cricketers

It is wonderful that we have so many public-spirited volunteers willing to turn out and help keep our village looking lovely.
