Race Report

We had a lovely, crisp morning for October’s run and conditions were well-nigh perfect for the runners. We were pleased to welcome new runners Tom and David to their first L2SOTMs. A good turnout of 19 runners saw a decent smattering of personal best times and well over half the field improved on their last outing.

Most Improved People receiving their cups from Jack

Ian had been saying he was going for a new Personal Best and he beat his 4 year old PB by 3 minutes 20 seconds and beat last month’s run by almost 5 minutes. Very well done to Ian, October 2012’s Most Improved Man. Second runner home and recipient of the Rising Star trophy for Most Improved Junior, Sim also ran a PB — two minutes quicker than his previous best. This month’s Most Improved Lady was Wendy, who beat her previous run by well over 5 minutes (but not, due to the quirks of the handicap system, her handicap-set time). That brought her to about a minute from her 4 year old PB, so another good run: congratulations! Honorable mention must go to Victoria, Scott, James, Ben and Sarah, who all set PBs this month.

The Olympic spirit is alive and well and running in Longparish.

Thanks very much to Emma, Jonathan and Jack for marshalling; to Maggie for the flapjack; Fiona & David for the signs and to the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

We look forward to seeing you at the Cricket Ground for the next race on Sunday 11 November starting at the earlier time of 9am to allow time for people to get to the Remembrance Day service. Runners of all standards are welcome as are brisk walkers. It is a handicap race, so the slowest have as much chance of winning the cups as the fastest. Supporters of all ages are very welcome.
