Race Report

Conditions were good for the October run and we had a record field of 34 runners including 8 juniors. It looks as though the future of running in Longparish is assured! We welcomed new runners Zowic Jewell, Benjie and Noah Johnson, Kerry Starkey and Amber Ridge.

First home and smashing his handicap by over 5 minutes was Arthur Hibbert. As a result of a mistake by the number cruncher he was not recognised as the Rising Star. Sorry Arthur. The trophy went to the second most improved junior, Frankie Arnold, who broke his personal best by over a minute. Other personal bests were Tad Filip, who was Most Improved Man, Paula Motley, who was Most Improved Woman, Rob Bryan, Evie Hillier, and Vicki Blewitt. Good running!

Frankie, Tad and Paula: October's Most Improved Runners (but see the text)

Well done to all who ran or accompanied children or simply turned out to cheer the runners on. Thanks go to Jim Dundas, Angela Bryan, Vicki Blewitt and Maggie Barber for the lovely cakes, Sam Arnold for photos, Nick Collier, Maggie and Angela for marshalling and time keeping, David Gould for the signs and the Cricket Club for the lovely venue.

Our next race is on Sunday 19th November (note this is a week later than usual) starting at the usual time of 10am at the Cricket Ground. Everyone is welcome especially volunteers to help (full training provided). If you'd like to run it is a handicap race so people of all abilities have a chance to win.
